I hate researching the current de-facto method of building a common Drupal solution. A few examples of what I'm talking about are CCK profiles, image galleries, podcasting, and google maps. Take image galleries -- there are a million ways to build an image gallery in Drupal, but there are really only a handful of methods that are commonly used, and it's these methods I want to stick to unless I know that I need some edge-case solution. I frequently find myself installing a handful of modules to build, say an image gallery, only to find that I chose the wrong handful. Maybe that solution is outdated, or doesn't fit my particular situation.
In any case, I slopped together a view so people can vote on common Drupal solutions. I'll add some items to it, feel free to add items yourself. Users vote on solutions, filter by version, etc. drupalmodules.com, steal this! I'd rather this be hosted on your popular site where it will get more entries & votes!
