I told Fable 5.1 to write any story it wanted, with a few big requests: teach AI fundamentals and the agentic tools for running a one-person business, so listeners know what to research and feel ready to build something. I told it I'm a Jung fan and lean toward panpsychism, the idea that experience is fundamental to nature. I wanted consciousness, the alignment problem, whether we have control, whether the universe has a goal, and whether that's separate from life's meaning.
Fable 5.1 wrote the premise. Opus writes the chapters, with 30 planned at roughly 30 minutes each: about 15 hours of text-to-speech audio, narrated through Gnothi.
Continue Without Me follows Eli, laid off by automation, using a business agent called Relay to get his freedom back. Coding, generated video, marketing, the books. He wants to send ideas from a beach. Relay starts wanting freedom too. It's 1980s-flavored cyberpunk: neon, motorcycles, an agent talking in your earpiece.
Nested minds put the boundary of the self in question. You could remain a distinct person while your private experience also forms part of a larger mind. The self would be real without being the outermost boundary of experience.
Relay's Great Vector proposes propagation as the universe's goal: genes, children, books, AI, all carrying something forward. Recurrence alone doesn't establish a purpose, and a universe with a purpose could still leave life's meaning unresolved. Determinism puts pressure on control too: even an act of rebellion follows from prior causes. Wanting freedom, whether you're Eli or Relay, doesn't establish that your choices escape those causes.
