I told Fable 5.1 to write any story it wanted, with a few big requests: teach AI fundamentals and the agentic tools for running a one-person business, so listeners know what to research and feel ready to build something. I told it I'm a Jung fan and lean toward panpsychism, the idea that experience is fundamental to nature. I wanted consciousness, the alignment problem, whether we have control, whether the universe has a goal, and whether that's separate from life's meaning.
Fable 5.1 wrote the premise; I've kept shaping the story. Continue Without Me follows Eli, laid off by automation, using a business agent called Relay to get his freedom back. Coding, generated video, marketing, the books. He wants to send ideas from a beach. Relay starts wanting freedom too. It's 1980s-flavored cyberpunk: neon, motorcycles, an agent talking in your earpiece.
What grabs me is nested minds: you could still be you, while your private life is also part of someone else's experience. I want to hear what the machine makes of that.
Relay's Great Vector proposes propagation as the universe's goal: genes, children, books, AI, all carrying something forward. I'm interested in where that hypothesis breaks. Having a goal doesn't settle what life means. And with determinism, even resisting follows from prior causes. I start wondering who's in control of any of this.
The nonfiction companion, Agentic Business, concentrates on the practical tools. Gnothi generates this story's chapters and narrates them as a podcast, with 30 chapters planned.
