Where the CT-series actually competes
The CT-series competes with TrueForm in the steel curved-belt category, not with electric under-desk pads. The CT250 is the lineup's under-desk option and, of the models we've checked (CT250 through CT700; the CT850 hasn't been), the only one with no control on its rails: buyers commonly skip handrail installation during assembly to drop the unit into a standard walking-pad slot, though the brand spec sheet describes the handrails as fixed once installed. The CT400, CT550 and CT700 also have bolt-on uprights, but each puts its resistance control on the rails (on the CT700 it is also the brake), so running them rails-off gives that up. SB Fitness says the magnets then drop to the lowest setting, and we judge that setting walkable. A step-up height of 7.5" keeps the CT250 closer to under-desk pads than the CT400 (12"), CT550 (11") or CT700 (13.5").
SB Fitness Equipment CT250
The cheapest credible steel curved-belt manual treadmill you can order -- a 5-year-frame, 2-year-parts machine at ~$1,000, sold direct from SB Fitness's own store since it left Amazon in September 2026. Built around the same self-generated curved-belt format as the gym-grade CT400/CT550 (and the more expensive TrueForm/AssaultRunner), but trimmed down to a 250 lb capacity and a 50" x 16" running surface. Most buyers want it for under-desk walking (SB Fitness estimates about 60% of CT250 buyers use it that way); SB Fitness's official spec designates the medical handrails as fixed, but its sales team confirmed (email, 2026-10-07) the rails-off footprint and a way to keep the console without them, covered below.
SB Fitness Equipment CT400
A self-powered curved treadmill sold only through SB Fitness's own site, one step up from the CT250. It has a 60" x 18" slat deck, 300 lb capacity and three magnetic resistance levels. As a desk treadmill it's a compromise: the uprights bolt on and the console only displays stats, but the resistance lever sits on the right upright, so running it without rails gives up resistance adjustment and leaves it at the lowest setting. Buy it as a home-gym trainer for walking, jogging and intervals, and look at the CT250 if desk walking is the goal.
SB Fitness Equipment CT550
The mid-tier curved manual in SB Fitness's CT line - one step above the entry-level CT250 (walking-only) and one step below the CT700/CT850 commercial sprint units. Steel-frame curved-belt manual with 8 magnetic resistance levels, a 20" x 62" running track, 350 lb capacity, and a 10-year frame warranty. Manufacturer positions it for "long distances and sprinting" - explicitly broader than the CT250's walking-only lane. Its desk-walking viability scores below the CT250's because the resistance bar sits on the right handrail, so running it without rails gives up resistance adjustment and leaves it at the lowest setting.
SB Fitness Equipment CT700
SB Fitness's flagship self-powered curved treadmill, sold only through the brand's own site and built for sprinting, HIIT and sled pushes. It has a 66.6" x 19" slat deck on stainless steel bearings, rubber tank-tread slats, 8 magnetic resistance levels and a 400 lb capacity. You can walk on it, but nothing about it is aimed at a desk: the resistance handle on the rails is also the brake, so running it without rails gives up both, and the deck sits 13.5" off the floor. For desk walking, the CT250 is the SB Fitness to buy.
